Subsidies for Electric Taxis and Charging Points in 2026: A Complete Overview

SEBA definitively ended on 31 December 2024. In 2026, MIA (27–45%), KIA (28%), Vamil and the new SPRILA subsidy for charging points (€60M, open from 20 Jan 2026) are available for taxi operators switching to electric.

Subsidies for Electric Taxis in 2026: What Is Available?

The subsidy landscape for electric taxis changed significantly in 2026. The popular SEBA subsidy definitively ended on 31 December 2024. But there are still solid fiscal schemes available for taxi operators switching to electric vehicles.

SEBA: Ended on 31 December 2024

The Subsidy for Emission-Free Commercial Vehicles (SEBA) is no longer available in 2026. The government terminated the subsidy because, from 1 January 2025, the BPM tax exemption on electric commercial vehicles expired, making purchase prices competitive with diesel and petrol alternatives. No new applications are possible.

1. MIA (Environmental Investment Allowance): Still Available

The Environmental Investment Allowance (MIA) is the most important fiscal scheme for electric taxis in 2026. You deduct an additional percentage of the investment from your taxable profit. The 2026 percentages:

Vehicle TypeMIA %Max. investment amount
Standard electric taxi27%€ 40,000
Electric taxi with 9 seats36%€ 75,000
Wheelchair taxi (Code VVR)36%€ 75,000
Hydrogen taxi (9 seats or wheelchair)45%€ 125,000

How to apply: Register your investment within 3 months of purchase at RVO.nl. Total MIA budget for 2026: €135 million — apply early as budgets are limited.

2. KIA (Small-Scale Investment Allowance)

The KIA provides 28% additional deduction on investments between €2,801 and €129,194. It can be combined with the MIA and runs automatically through your tax return — no separate application to RVO needed.

3. Vamil (Arbitrary Environmental Depreciation)

With Vamil, you can arbitrarily write off 75% of the investment, providing a liquidity advantage. Vamil can be combined with MIA for certain vehicle types — check the Environmental List 2026 at RVO.nl for your specific taxi model.

4. SPRILA: Subsidy for Charging Points (New in 2026)

The new SPRILA scheme makes €60 million available for charging points on private business premises. The scheme opened on 20 January 2026 and can be combined with MIA/Vamil.
